Your creative journey

Join me on a fun journey of discovery, communication and creativity. 

This summer week is designed to guide you in the development of a personal style and to help expand your knowledge of the creative process; on the practical side we will explore ways to add unusual effects to your work.

The course will be divided into 3 parts: Hands on, revisiting design theory and exploring creative development.

Hands on

During this summer week we will explore a range of new materials combining them with familiar techniques such as screen printing, stamping and stencilling. We will use controlled rusting to add striking graphic details to fabric and paper, puff paste for adding texture and relief to surfaces combining this with various textile mediums which compliment these exciting surfaces. We will produce a range of fabrics and papers which will be used in a final project. 

Revisiting design theory

PowerPoint presentations will be shown exploring various aspects of the design process including Colour theory and Composition. Small exercises will be given if you wish to explore these theories further in your sketchbook or workbook.

Onderzoek naar creatieve ontwikkeling

There will be plenty of time for group and personal discussions. Participants must be willing to share their knowledge and ideas.   A presentation explaining the Creative Process will be shown which will support the development of your personal style and help you to find your creative focus. You will be encouraged to choose a theme or subject matter which is of particular interest to you and help you on your way to embarking on a final piece of work.

This course it suitable for participants working with quilting, embroidery, surface design and paper. It is suitable for students of all levels.

Materiaalgebruik

Deze Zomerweek is exclusief de meeste materialen. Die kunt u zelf meenemen of aanschaffen in de Hawar-winkel. 

U kunt wel in het atelier van Hawar heel veel materiaal gebruiken die daar klaar worden gezet en die de lessen  verrijken.

Wat is een Zomerweek?

Tijdens een zomerweek wordt les gegeven op maandagmiddag van 14.00 tot 17.00 en de andere dagen van 10.00 tot 13.00. Daarna gaat u lunchen en heeft u de rest van de dag de beschikking om zelf verder te werken in het atelier. U kunt dan de keuken gebruiken en water, koffie en thee zijn in het atelier aanwezig. Maar u kunt ook op pad gaan om de omgeving te ontdekken. Bijvoorbeeld een wandeling in de prachtige parkbossen rond Olderberkoop of fietsen in het Drents/Friese woud. 

Vrijdag aan het eind van de morgen wordt al het werk dat de cursisten gedurende de week gemaakt hebben tentoongesteld en samen met de docent besproken. Zo leert u ook van elkaars werk. Deze dag eindigt rond een uur of 14.00.


Behalve op de maandag wordt er iedere dag om één uur een heerlijke en uitgebreide lunch verzorgt door onze lunchkok Paco.
