Masterclass Britta Ankenbauer Playground week

Do you have printing projects, themes or just ideas in mind but don’t know exactly how to approach it visually in your textile work? Do you know a lot of different wet techniques to apply paints and dyes but don’t exactly know, which methods and approaches are really yours? Do you like handmade printed fabric design or want to use your (older) fabric stock to change it through printmaking? Do you ask about starting points to get into a creative flow ? What about patterns, together with paint on and over materials?  Do you like to find great methods for colour schemes that fit together? Do you like to play to get your textile design very interesting and really personally printed?

This week is for you! Join us for a week of playful exploration where we’ll dive into all of these questions. . I will show you some methods and processes that fit into your own  way of working (are you more intuitive or a planner?) and personal style. And of course, you’ll get tips and tricks to find out about your favourites. From that starting point you get methods to develop your own printed and painted ideas.

We are starting without controlling too much: using wet in wet techniques accidentally, we’ll see what happens if we go further. Next, we try to use different and more specific design to get your hands doing what you’ve in mind. You’ll find out, how to use colour concepts that fit really true to your ideas and how to work further with composition. Later on you start working with your own inspiration and working towards themes that you like. 

This week will be filled with fun, wonder, and discovery. It’s your chance to explore new techniques and find your voice in textile design!

This week is open to anyone looking to develop their own textile process, whether you're a seasoned artist or just starting out. Everyone is welcome to explore and create together with Britta.

This masterclass also has a follow-up session planned for the fall of 2025.
