Do you like stitching as textile method? Do you search for more creative ways to stitch your personal ideas? Do you like to doodle through stitching? How can you work with inspiration like photos or text? In this week we’ll explore different creative and playful techniques of stitching (machine and/or hand). 

Following your own pathway, you’ll learn to use thread and needle creatively in more than one way to work with. What about strange materials and techniques that are not “traditionally” seen as thread, but have a great look while stitched on a surface? What about different surfaces to stitch to get the “right” impact? What about deconstructed stitches? Did you ever tried creative colour change in your stitching? How do you approach an idea from the beginning to end? How do you use your sketchbook and designed (printed) fabrics to stitch on? How can we change the impact of a print through stitching? 

This week is full of wonder: you can take your time to develop your own creative way and to tell your stories through stitching. At the end of the course you have a range of different examples and hopefully fresh contemporary ideas. At the end you can make a stitched book of it. Or you leave it loose and make a small series. However – this week moves you in terms of creativity, your own pathway and methods of stitching.

If you’ve joined the surface design course in June, you are very welcome to bring your designs for further development through stitching. If you are a beginner in stitching, don’t worry – you’ll go out of this week with lots of ideas for your own way to working in textiles.
